Parque Explora is an interactive science museum in the north of Medellín, by Universidad station on Metro Line A. It has an aquarium with a focus on the Amazon, a vivarium, a dinosaur exhibition and interactive galleries with more than 300 experiences about the mind, time, music and more, plus a gallery built for young children. The visit is self-guided, with staff it calls Exploradores in every space to answer questions, and the museum suggests allowing at least two and a half hours.

By Car

The museum has a guarded car park with limited spaces: COP 5,000 per hour or COP 20,000 for the day for a car. Other car parks nearby are at Parque Norte, the Bosque Plaza mall and the Jardín Botánico.

By Public Transport

Take Metro Line A to Universidad station; Parque Explora is just outside. Many bus routes run along Carrera 52 (Carabobo) and Carrera 53 (Ferrocarril), which the museum sits between.

What are Parque Explora's opening hours?

Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 to 17:30, with the ticket office closing at 16:00. Weekends and public holidays from 10:00 to 18:30, with the ticket office closing at 17:00. It closes on Mondays, and on the Tuesday after a Monday public holiday, for maintenance.

Do I need to book?

No. You can buy a ticket at the ticket office when you arrive, or on the museum's website at least 24 hours before your visit.

Is the visit guided?

The route is self-guided, but every space has Exploradores, staff who can guide you and answer questions. The museum recommends allowing at least two and a half hours.

Is there food, and can I bring a pet?

El Comedor on the second floor serves food, and there are vending machines in the north zone. Pets are not allowed, to protect the animals in the aquarium and vivarium; certified emotional support animals are admitted with their document.

Is it accessible for wheelchair users?

Yes. The spaces allow a wheelchair through, and there are accessible car park spaces, toilets, ramps and lifts. In the aquarium the exhibits can be touched, with 3D models of 25 species and Braille information.
